Tobi Amusan Secures Third Consecutive Victory in 100m Hurdles at African Games
Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan has once again demonstrated her prowess on the track by claiming her third consecutive gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles event at the African Games in Ghana. Despite a false-start scare during the initial race, officials opted for a yellow card instead of disqualification.
Amusan's outstanding performance saw her clock an impressive time of 12.89 seconds, outshining her competitors. She outpaced Sidonie Fiadanantsoa of Madagascar, who finished second with a time of 13.19 seconds, while Faith Osamuyi of Nigeria narrowly missed the podium, securing fourth place with a time of 13.77 seconds.
The victory adds to Amusan's already illustrious career, which includes holding the current world record in the 100m hurdles with a remarkable time of 12.12 seconds, achieved in the semi-final of the event in Eugene, Oregon, in 2022.
Amusan has etched her name in history as the first Nigerian to become a world champion and world record holder in athletics. Her accolades extend to consecutive Commonwealth and African titles in 2018 and 2022, respectively, in the 100m hurdles.
With this latest triumph, Tobi Amusan continues to inspire athletes globally and solidify her position as one of Nigeria's most celebrated track and field athletes.
