"Edo Police Apprehend 23-Year-Old Secondary School Graduate Found with Firearms"
In a recent operation, the Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 23-year-old secondary school graduate, Rukevwe George, for allegedly being in possession of firearms. The suspect, who hails from Delta State and attended Baptist Medical Center Secondary School in Eku, Delta State, was arrested in Benin, the capital of Edo State.
Rukevwe was found in possession of one automatic foreign-made double barrel gun and one locally-made single-barrel gun at the time of his arrest. He was also discovered wearing military camouflage attire during the operation. In his statement to journalists, Rukevwe claimed that the firearms belonged to his master, Ralph, who is currently evading arrest. However, he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for how he acquired the military uniform.
Commissioner of Police for Edo State, Funsho Adegboye, while addressing the media during the parade of suspects, highlighted the recent surge in criminal activities within the state. He emphasized the need for thorough investigations into cases involving individuals like Rukevwe, who exploit military attire to perpetrate crimes under false pretenses.
Adegboye assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend Rukevwe's master, Ralph, and bring him to justice along with his accomplices. The police commissioner reiterated the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security within Edo State.
The arrest of Rukevwe underscores the ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and combat criminal activities in the region.
